LAREDO, Tex. (Hola Laredo) -
Laredo Film Society’s Slasher Camp was a week-long intensive that gave local campers a hands-on crash course in how to create a slasher film from start to finish. Hosted around Lake Casa Blanca, the camp focused on the real building blocks of production—learning performance for the camera through acting, shaping the story in post through video editing, and building vision and leadership through creative direction techniques. By the end of the week, campers weren’t just learning concepts; they were actively creating their first films as a team with guidance from camp counselors.
The experience wrapped with a final showcase screening at Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, giving campers the chance to see their first films on the big screen. Overall, Slasher Camp was a great opportunity for Laredoans to jump into filmmaking, build confidence, and highlight local creative talent.
