A bold and intimate theatrical experience is coming to downtown Laredo as RED by acclaimed playwright John Logan takes the stage on Iturbide Street. Directed by Marco González and starring local actors Jose Flores and Pepe Treviño, this powerful production invites audiences into the complex and often vulnerable process of creating art.
RED explores what it truly means to be an artist, the sacrifice, the obsession, and the relentless pursuit of creating a masterpiece. Through sharp dialogue and intense performances, the play examines mentorship, legacy, and the cost of greatness.
Director Marco González shared that one of the goals of this production is to introduce Laredo to an art-specific theatre experience. The show will be performed in a newly activated downtown space with only 42 seats per performance, creating an immersive and personal atmosphere rarely seen in the city. By bringing theatre into a smaller, more intentional venue, RED offers audiences a new way to experience live performance up close, raw, and deeply engaging.
