LAREDO, Tex. (Hola Laredo) - Mark your calendars, Laredo! The much-anticipated Washington’s Birthday Celebration 2025 is just around the corner, promising three days of fun, food, and festivities. Taking place from January 31 to February 2, 2025, this action-packed weekend will be hosted at the 1848 Event Center and proudly sponsored by H-E-B.
Kick off the weekend with the sizzling Red, White & BBQ competition on Friday and Saturday, where the best grill masters will battle it out. Then, wrap up the celebration on Sunday night with the spectacular H-E-B Fireworks Extravaganza and Drone Show, co-sponsored by Laredo Federal Credit Union (LFCU).
Friday, January 31:
Start your weekend with the Steak Cook-Off, sanctioned by the Steak Cookoff Association (SCA). Competitors will grill up H-E-B-provided ribeye steaks to perfection. Don’t miss the Margarita and Salsa Jackpot, a fun-filled contest that’s bursting with flavor!

Saturday, February 1:
Barbecue lovers! Saturday brings the 4-Meat Competition—brisket, chicken, pork ribs, and pork butt—sanctioned by the Champions Barbecue Alliance (CBA). Young grill masters can show off their skills in the Kid’s Que, a family-friendly competition designed for little chefs. And of course, the beloved Beans Jackpot is back—come see who makes the best borracho beans in town!
Sunday, February 2:
End the weekend on a high note with the H-E-B Fireworks Extravaganza and Drone Show, starting at 8 PM. This jaw-dropping combination of vibrant fireworks and cutting-edge drone technology will light up the Laredo sky in a display you won’t want to miss.
